pothole issue with council...need to chase up

I've not normally much sympathy with councils over potholes but at the moment they have an impossible job as most of the roads have been covered for four weeks and when it does thaw 1000s appear at once.
At least at the moment there are so many that you should be expecting them.0 -
Eventaully all the potholes will join up and the roads will simply be a few inches lower.
Problem solved!!

A main road near me was resurfaced in november time. Surface was immaculate. Now it feels like I'm driving over Stephen Hendry's face.0

most councils have a link on their website to report them, do that and if its not done send a email to your local councilor and it will be done in a matter of hours as long as you have a good one.0

I'm not sure if anyone really answered your original question, although the link to potholes.co.uk will do it.
Essentially, if the council were aware of the pothole but didn't repair it in a reasonable time (varies with severity), then they will be liable. If it hadn't been reported, then they might pay up, but would have a reasonable defence.0 -
The bad weather has caused the potholes! How can you blame the council for the weather???
Everyone is out for a freebie aren't they. I'm surprised that they are not advertising on tv yet -you know, 'lawyers for you' or 'potholesRus'... 'no win no fee no pothole'... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Or you could do what I do, avoid the potholes when safe to do so and get on with your life. Or you could take photo's like the other guy.... :rotfl:Genie

I take it you have not just had a £400 bill to repair your car like I have because of a pothole (crater)???
This is why people want to claim off councils
Hmm £200 excess on car insurance and then increase in premiums due to making a claim. This is why people like me are trying to claim from council.
France and other countries have cold weather like us and roads a near perfect.... we pay silly taxes on fuel, road why should we not expect roads to be ROADWORTHY condition?
If the councils did not carry out patch repairs all the time things would be different.TB0
