combi boiler positioned too low

Options
I am in the process of renovating my house. i had a new combi boiler fitted but for some reason the plumber placed it too low on the wall and will there fore not fit neatly into a kitchen cupboard. i only discovered this today when someone came to measure up my kitchen. This will now leave me with an oddly fitted kitchen as if i want to conceal the boiler i have to have one cupboard ontop of another.

Is it reasonable of me to expect my plumber to come back and move the boiler? or is in his rights to charge me to move it?

What height is the boiler from the floor? You should ask the plumber if there was a reason for fitting it so low , also could you fit a taller larder cupboard over it?

Unless you specified where you wanted it on the wall vis-a-vis new cupboards then he just had a blank wall to work with so wouldn't have known exactly where you wanted it hung. In this case yes he is well within his rights to charge you for moving it. Sorry.

I would have thought that a professional boiler fitter would have advised on the best location for a boiler, taking issues like kitchen fittings into consideration. It sounds like he did a lazy job, probably the easiest for him at the time.

fitter should have advised on postion with you, plus if it is a condensing boiler with standard flue then the flue sould be no less tan 2 metrs from the floor outside for regulation standards. jf not he must move it

Either that or the OP gave him a lazy spec. "Will it do just here? Yep- that'll be fine". There are two sides to every story you know.

    Did you miss this bit:

How do you know he didn't? The OP hasn't said. Neither has he said how far its too low. It could be only a few inches and f it wasn't specified that the boiler was to be enclosed how is the fitter to know?

Bldg Regs say that if the flue is less than 2 metres above the ground where people have access then it must be fitted with a flue guard. The minimum height.is 300mm so no sorry he doesn't have to move it if its less than 2m.

But you don't need to move the boiler to fit a plume management kit if the boiler is located internally such that the flue exits less than 2 metres above the ground. This thread is about the internal position of the boiler. Why are you saying the BOILER has to be moved?

Did you tell the plumber about your future kitchen fitting plans and if you did,did you provide him with plans/diagrams so that he could ensure that the boiler would be accommodated within the run of cupboards?

If yes..has he complied? > liability

    If no> no liability
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

OP seems to think that moving a boiler a few inches is like moving a kitchen table. The mounting, gas, power, water flow and return connections will all have to be remade, plus the flue and condensate drain. Major job.
If the installer wasn't given a specific position (why not simply mark the wall?) then there is no comeback. Is the installer supposed to be a mind-reader?
