Proof or purchase help

Hi,
I am wondering where i stand legally on this one....
I bought an electronic item from a major dept store in May 2008, it has develped a fault. They have asked for proof of purchase for the item, the only thing i have is my card statement they said this was fine.
i give them the card statement and then they say we dont believe that your item cost this much as we have been looking on the internet and we believe you only paid X amount for it.
They are no refusing to deal with me.
What can i do?
If you told them you just wanted a replacement item surely this is irrelevant?Or did you request a refund?0 -
Even if you provide proof of purchase you will still have to get a report to say the item has a manufacturing defect.0

They've further than they have by offering you refund accept it. Under SOGA You need to get an independent engineers report and then they decided whether to repair/replace or refund a partial amount depending on how you've had.0
