thanks, no im not shopping around, i decided in september when he came out before that i would use him, i was just wondering about the price. my friend (with same car) always seemed to have much cheaper prices with her mechanic so i wondered what others thought.
if im happy with what he does and says then i will continue to use him, but dont misunderstand, i expect the call out charge for picking the car up as he had to jump start it, i expect it to be £15 for call out and whatever it was to jump start it, or it might be included in the service cost as im using him, but we'll see0 -
Our garage charges £150 for the service, so your chap sounds reasonable to me.
Read this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-mot for ways to get your MOT costs down.I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -

so what are you doing for the service change oil ,oil filter air filter mybee spark plugs . anything else needed is extra ie brake pads ,etc. what your mec is charging i would say is a bit much if he didnt do any repairs to car
yes he has to make a profit but unless he has charged you £50 for coming out to your car and charging it0 -
I have seen many garages offering servicing and mot from £99.
Is this a full service where the wheels are removed and brakes cleaned & checked, all levels topped up etc..??Google gives you answers use it.........0 -
all levels topped up for sure, wheels removed??? not sure, should have asked.
normally, i would do a bit more research and check things out in the car beforehand, but as i had to get it to his to get it charged and i was going to get it serviced and MOTd soon, i thought i would do it all in one go. think it would have been a better decision really to get it just serviced and then MOT next week really, but whats done is done0 -

You know that little you probably shouldnt be allowed a car!
Why do you have to be so rude? This response is so "not helpful" MSE users ask the questions because they do not have the answers - if you cannot say something useful, perhaps you should say nothing at all0 -
i always find this sort of thing odd. the expectation (from some on here) that if you ask a question about something, you are somewhat irresponsible for not knowing the answers.
you live in a house, drive a car, own a computer, go shopping, go on holidays, engage with the neighbours, have relationships, have a job, dont have a job, watch telly, have a social life, dont have a social life,,, etc etc etc etc
but to do any of the above, or not,,,, you MUST know all about it, you must know how your TV works, computer works, have perfect interaction with neighbours and partners, have a perfect job and abilities, know how your house is constructed, have no queries about them at all and above all, you must know basic maintenance for your car or you shouldnt be driving or owning one!!!!
have a good evening:money:
