Vodafone Handset Upgrade:Confused !
Recently I was contacted by vodafone stating I was eligible for a handset upgrade.
This seemed odd because I thought I was on a sim only deal. About a year ago (Jan 09) I phoned vodafone to negotiate a contract more suitable for me, the lady sorted me out with 500 mins 100 texts and mobile internet (apparently the £35 price plan) as a sim only deal so £35 was discounted down to £17.95 a month)
So I phoned vodafone back to double check I was eligible for the free handset upgrade, I was told I was (even though my contract looked like a sim only contract) and I was told that my contract would stay the same including the discount as I was 'paying enough each month for the upgrade'.
Well, I went online on the 9th and selected the handset-only upgrade option and chose a free handset from the options available. Yesterday I received an email which thanked me for upgrading my handset and contract. Iam getting the same inclusive minutes and texts but the monthly fee is stated as £35.
I rang vodafone and now no one can help me, I am getting told that there is no discount on the account and I am not eligible for it. This seems to contradict what I have been told up to this point ? If this is the case I think I will be cancelling the handset upgrade and hopefully returning to my discounted "sim only" price plan. Over the 18 months the upgraded handset contract would run, I would be paying an extra £300+ on the contract. The handset only costs £200. So cancelling the upgrade and just buying the handset elsewhere might be better.
Has anyone had anything similar happen to them ?
Which vodafone rep is right ? the one who says my discount should stay intact or the one that says I have lost my discount because of the upgrade.

had the same problem with my dads contract that i was sorting.
the discount will show on your first billl... forget the letter that you get when joining the contract that is automated and shows no discount.
he got the discount fully.0 -
If vodafone can't see the discount i would be tempted to cancel myself rather than let it run as you have a small window to cancel.
Try contacting the vodafone rep on here.I would definitley like to have a look into this for you, appologies for the delay in getting to this,
Could you get in contact with me using this link here :

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Well I've had some success, I spoke to a lady in retentions. She explained that my discount was only for a year, whether this is true or not I'm not sure, however she sorted me out with a better price plan and has discounted it down to just 50p more than I was paying before.0
