    You can probably trust the password safe to protect the login credentials when they are only stored on the hard drive.

    If you'd like to get more information, ask them how they store the details in RAM on your computer after they have been read from the safe, before they are sent to the other sites.

    Given their answer so far, I wouldn't actually trust them, because they seem to be making technically unrealistic denials of the possibility of a succesful attack, and that means they might claim that I must have disclosed the password and may refuse to compensate for a successful attack.

    What happens with the data after login is controlled by the settings for the agent and that has the capability, apparently used by Egg, to send the account details back to the company offering the service.
