RM Parcels

Does anyone know if there's any way of checking if your local post office is sitting on your parcels rather than delivering them straight away?
I ordered some stuff on line last Monday and Wednesday, and my Dad ordered some stuff on Saturday, and not a single thing has turned up - I would've expected at least one parcel by now, especially as there would be at least 10 parcels to come!
Would parcel delivery be drastically effected by the snow do you reckon?
Just for extra info, the stuff I ordered on Monday said it was dispatched that evening, the stuff on Wednesday was dispatched Monday 11th. Not sure about dispatch dates for Dad's stuff but would expect that to be Monday 11th also.
I need the stuff I ordered on Wednesday by this Saturday! Previous experience with this website has delivered next day.
Any help appreciated.

Ring them and ask ? The number should be online or in your local phonebook. I would suspect they are definitely not deliberately hanging onto parcels, the level of complaints they would get and loss of contracts following would make it stupid for them to deliberately do this. It is very likely that the snow has affected all parts of the chain - from the supplier to the depot then across the country to your local office then to you.

oh i could tell you stories(im particularly hacked off with work just now soooo)
1st royal mail deliver parcels not the post office ;)

seriously though, parcels or packets in RM speak are not covered by RM's universal service obligation
so can be left if times are busy to prioritise mail which is
then couple this with RM's new practices and cuts and it can all add up
just today i have been told to prioritise D2D items( that unadressed junk posties deliver) over everything but 1st class mail
so i wiould be leaving packets,2nd class, mailsort and DSA mail

    aye modernisation in action

so in answer to your question you can contact the delivery office and ask
whether you will get a straight answer is another matter
  • The stuff that was sent on 11th has only been 2 days in the system and depending where it is coming from, it's probably delayed with the weather. Have you tried contacting the suppliers and asking for tracking details or any other information they may have? You might then be able to track your parcel online on the royal mail website.
  • Custardy, are you saying they tell you to prioritise junk mail over parcels? What on earth are they thinking?

    its the future

heres a small glimpse of the last few days
bear in mind my office has the new RM park & loop system in place they want to bring in nationally (and are going to)
  • I think next time I get unaddressed junk mail I'm going to post it back to the sorting office with a request to prioritise the mail customers are actually paying for. Junk mail should be at the bottom of the pile and preferably not delivered at all.

I've been picking my post up from the sorting office as the postie can't do his round. Have you tried calling them?

you know you can opt out?
problem is for RM its a big money maker, and i mean big
they want to increase the levels massivly
just now we are limited to 3 per week
    they want that limit removed

if i continue to fail to deliver D2D items i can and will be sacked

I'm waiting for a couple of parcels, but in this weather I'm not surprised they haven't been delivered here. The snow/ice has been pretty bad, so I don't think the sorting office here could get all the vans out for several days, never mind the fact staff couldn't get into work - no buses or trains on certain days.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
