So we're receiving tons of junk mail because the Royal Mail is being paid large sums of money by businesses. In the meantime individual customers who pay dearly for their stamps and parcel deliveries are quite literally treated like second class citizens. It's so crazy it's almost funny.0

Thats exactly it!
Royal Mail bosses are always telling us Posties in Work time Learning sessions otherwise known by us posties as Work time Bore sessions or Work time !!!!!!!!e Sessions(usually on a Tuesday when the mail is slightly down)that the only customers who count are big business and NOT the Granny Smiths of the world.
I too got told this today, to do the door to door leaflets over packets!
Absolutley crazy tatics by management!"Life is short even in its longest days".0 -

...or Waste of Time Listening (for the non-Rm folk out there, they are actually called Work Time Listening, or WTL's, which is a group, 2-way communication session).
I agree that it s wrong that this rubbish is prioritised over real mail, but bear in mind that the revenue from this goes some way to subsidising the stamped mail.
I would just like to point at that the weather is having a massive impact on the ability of all delivery companies to get their stuff delivered. This morning, I was loaded and ready to go by 6.30 but we were told that we could not leave the depot until it got light outside (conditions had got quite treacherous overnight), although the amount of backlogged parcels in the depot meant that I couldn't get my van out of the door anyway. We were held back again as in continued to snow, and a couple of drivers that had got out were not making much progress due to traffic conditions. Eventually, at 11.30, those of us that were willing to venture out were allowed out if we went 2 men per van, and if we delivered locally to the depot.
On a normal day, we would deliver 3500 parcels. At the end of today, we had 10,000 (count the zeros!) parcels on the floor with a further 4,000 being held at the hub due to lack of space in the depot.
This white stuff stopped being pretty quite some time ago!!0
