Sorry if this is a daft question, but we are swapping our daughter over to the Virgin Sim Only deal at £10 as we are fed of Orange (coverage and reception is rubbish) Virgin include free voicemail as part of the package just wondered if she has to pay or if she will loose minutes to listen to any messages.

Thank you.

There is an ongoing thread on here about turning off your voicemail. I would urge it to be turned off unless there is a reason for it being on.

Where a phone is out of range of network signal, switched off, or often but not always, in use (busy), it goes straight to voicemail which charges the caller and generates revenue for the mobile provider.

It's sad to see the end of the original Virgin Mobile "reducer" tariff where the first five minutes during a day were 15 pence per minute and then 5 pence per minute thereafter in that day. Now charges are 20 pence per minute. I believe that call charges to voicemail were free at one time with Virgin.

Virgin Mobile pay as you go costs says voicemail call cost is 20 pence per call:

This is the deal we have been looking at which says free voicemail in the UK thats why I wondered what the `free` meant..if it cost us by her listening to any messages there may be or if that bit is also free.

We had the Orange voicemail switched off as it cost a fortune..

thanks DonnyDave for taking the time to reply

Ah yes. Clearly says "FREE" voicemail. I take this to mean the cost of calling the voicemail service to retrieve messages.

I would at least print out this page a couple of times should it need to be relied on later.

Thanks Dave, its so confusing.....I have a cheap pay as you go phone that cost me £5 every 3-4 mnths, but daughter is so different - I couldn`t in my lifetime send as many texts as she can in one week..this Free Voicemail was an added extra just wanted to make sure I know how it works before we go onto Virgin...as don`t want any enexpected extras as we kept getting from Orange.
