On my OH;s birthday with have 6 hours in Derbyshire
We drop our children at a workshop in Belper at 9 and pick them up at 3 so am looking to fill those hours? Perhaps an interesting town nearby or maybe something he can 'do'. We will have a young baby with us also. Any suggestions please?
Thanks

You don't say when - if it's on or after 13th February (when it re-opens for the season), what about the Crich Tramway village ?

Can't go wrong with visiting BakewellLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Cromford is quite nice, though small, with quite a bit of Industrial Revolution history if that's your bag. Matlock is nice for a wander too. Just steer clear of Ilkeston :-)0

Bakewell is nice, small country town with some nice little shops and a nice river for throwing bread at ducks and for a stroll. Matlock is bigger and has some bits like Bakewell and then road leads round to Matlock Bath and heights of abraham (cable car over river), there was (not sure now) a big paddling pool in Matlock we always used to play in as kids and lots of flat pushchair easy walking down along the river. Leads onto Cromford which has its industrial heritagey bits - think you can go on a canal boat round there somewhere?
Crich is really nice too with lots of transport and history stuff - and there are new walkways through woods which are also fairly buggy friendly (once you've lugged the buggy onto then in some places!!) There's also an indoor softplay area - although it was cold when we went so wrap up warm!
Depends when you are going and what dh likes doing reallyMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

hi
you need to tell us what your family like doing and when it will be?
matlock bath has Gullivers, the tramway museum at crich has already been mentioned, or why not take OH for a relaxing meal (lots of nice places to eat that will not mind a baby), or if in good weather you OH and baby go for a walk with a picnic, or a pub lunch in a country pub or he could go white water rafting or rock climbing (indoor or outdoor training available) whilst you and baby relaxed over a meal or walking round shops or in the PlayMill...go on the steam train in matlock, go down a cavern ...go into derby with all the usual city attractions,
Let us know more and we can suggest things..indoor or outdoor activity, sporty or romantic, how old is baby?
there is loads to do in derbyshire!

hi - thank you for your suggestions. OH's bday is in Feb and really I would like him to get to do something that he wouldnt normally do with us with it being his bday. We often go to matlock/gullivers/cromford etc with the kids. Him doing an activity would be ideal but not sure where to look? Then maybe lunch afterwards? He's afraid of heights so that one think to consider lol.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Seriously Matlock Spa, Cromford Mill - only a couple of miles apart.
Get some walking boots though."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

I agree with Bakewell, Matlock Bath or Ashbourne (15 mins drive from Belper) - perhaps visting Dovedale aswell. (weather permitting)0
