How do I clean a really Filthy Bathroom- Limescale removal

We have bought a buy to let property and the bathrooms are filthy!
The suites are white and appear to be ok but bath and sink have loads of limescale & taps are dulled due to limescale.
Can anyone suggest an easy way of cleaning this that won't take off enamal.
Toilet I can cope with, I've done these before but suggestions welcome. It is the bath and sink that really worry me.
The limescale marks are blue (no idea why) but don't seem to have eaten into the bath and sink surface. If I can't get it looking decent we could be faced with buying 6 new suites and I really don't want that!
Any advice very appreciated.

Cillet bang is really good for getting grubby taps sparkling. Lemon juice also eats through the limescale I would say cut the lemon in half and stick it on the taps overnight. It's worth a try!!!!Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680

Could I use lemon juice on the bath or would it take enamel off?0

The lemon juice will be fine on the enamel, vinegar will do the job too.0

I use Lime Lite for lime scale in my bathroom. Its really good. You can see it working which fascinates me.....I know I'm sad:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

We had a similar problem with the bath we inherited with this house. It's a lovely solid, deep enamel bath but had a build up of limescale that must have been going on for years. In true MSE spirit I tried everything - Vinegar, Scouring Powders, Limescale removers (the last one of these stained the bath electric blue but didn't get rid of the scale). I thought my only option was going to be re-enamelling or, horror of horrors, a new bath.
However I found a guy in Yellow Pages who does bath 'refurbs' (techie-speak for a good old sand and polish) and this proved much cheaper than either of the above options and has left the bath silky smooth and shiny. It cost £90 but considering the cost of re-enamelling (approx £200 and then needs renewing every 6-10 years) or a new bath (cost + fitting and necessary redecorating) or constantly buying DIY preparations to try and deal with the problem, I think it a sound investment. All the bath needs now to keep it in tip-top shape is a squirt of mousse and a rinse.
If you have several baths to do, perhaps you could negotiate a discount price with someone like this. A lot less hassle than building work.
Good luck.

You could soak some kitchen towel in vinegar and wrap the taps up then cover in cling film to stop the vinegar drying out and leave over night.0
