Looking back through as you do, I realise I havent put much detail down, which for future generations or aliens landing may be useful.
(Wouldnt aliens visiting this board think humanity was daft but very caring.)
So Ill go and get the infamous book and be back with what I have done this year, as the 20th is the anniversay of my first overpayment, my how time and money flies- always running out of both.....If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -
I like to think that maybe aliens are in deep space monitoring humanity via MSE...when they do make first contact they will be draped in microfibre cloths, brandishing a cashback credit card and mumbling the sacred human phrase "don't forget to go through quidco"weaving through the chaos...0

Maybe the reason that they havent come (yet) is that they are trading in expensive space jets and taking the cheaper hovver boards, which following the intergalatic motoring tips they never fill more than half a tank. maratian saving experts would be waiting for hotsaturndeals to announce a three day on line sale with martian dollars back. Their is also the small matter of space service stations, if you think our are expensive......:rolleyes:If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -
On a non moneysaving point. If their are 5 million cars in GB, and each car has four tyres which last roughly a year ( given all those who dont check the pressures) ... if each tyre loses a 1/10 of a cm in tread then where is all the rubber and why arent roads really really bouncy after all these years of motoring. If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0

My mortgage total on January 20th 2009 was 47 065.81 This was day one of mfw.
We were investing in the Halifax kids regular savings, two kids 100 each month, and they were due to mature, so I decided that we put thye sums into the mortgage, freshly inspired by you lot.
I then cancelled everything that was holding us back. Gyms and subscriptions and diet coke....( another story...another time.)
My fixed 5 year deal was ending the august so I went mad and every penny was either overpaid or saved and then overpaid at the end of the fix, with the natural pittance the Woolwich took off for a year of payments, the total in August became 35,881.53 when I refixed for two years.
Deleriously happy when i played with my calculator and found that was 20.77%
I like fixes as Im salaried and it makes sense to me. So now were up to speed til august..... kids bath time then back to get upto speed properly...If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -

if I invest £100 a month, will my kids mature any quicker?
you've got me worrying about where all the rubber from the tyres is going? maybe that will be my excuse next time I ding the car - "I bounced off the road" do you think the insurance company would accept that?weaving through the chaos...0 -
HA ha:rotfl:. Enjoyed that one.
Yes they will mature quicker, imagine being 14 and finding a stash of cash 100x12x14. 16,800, plus interest. that could be some maturity, it would certainly lead to alife altering experience when its discovered to have been "spent". . . . . . .If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -
Long bath that was... Got bogged down in work, shift work where all the days blend into one long journey and you look at your watch and surprise yourself with the date. another reason to op, have a look at dropping hours......( but I do love my work)
So to the tale of the tape, In august I beefed up the emergency fund to cover three all months of all bills or 7 months mortgage payments, I did have the option to op but this was far more important.
By Christamas I had op`d the 10% max and now its on with saving the next ten percent that I can overpay in August.... and thats where its at.If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -
