Thought I would post my musings, an occasional diary.

So Hello, fellow msers and mfw`s. Do we have a tee shirt or would we not buy it in favour of op`ing?... anyway..

Long time lurker and feeder, upgrading the experince by getting a bit more intearctive.

I will get the basics out of the way...

Budget done and fat to be trimmed on utilities and home insurance but otherwise we do well, or have decided we "need" somethings. Big quidco fan and hotukdealer.

Mortgage set at 4.49% til Aug 2011. which I know is rubbish but I like a fixed rate, allowed 10 per cent per year which I m chuffed to bits is done this year and with months to spare. Allready saving for the next 10 % in August...:j This is good for me...

Dw and 2x ds at home, dw now looks glazed over every time I reach for my battered and held together with masking tape, hard back book that is my mfw musings.

Decided to post as normally a visit to the site is enough to put off the want pains.... evertyime I start up my Ghaddafi mobile, a 19 year old "classic" I want a new car, and just recently the temptation is getting the better of me, been and kicked some tyres....

By some of the standards on here I am clearly weak as we still do the odd holiday and beer in the fridge, however we have cut back a bit but have promised dw a family holiday to florida to see the mouse and co in 2011. (Ive saved for it.)

So I will be updating this occasionally, with random thoughts and posts just like the thread title, which makes me smile.

  • Forgot to mention I have split my challenge into 4 sections which for the sake of modernness I have labelled as QE- quantitive Easing I, II, III & IV.

Does anyone else give their plans names?

hi improviseadaptovercome, or may we call you IAO for ease of keyboard related RSI? ;):D

    Welcome to MFW.

We are of course, shocked by the beer in the fridge, but still welcome you with open arms and look forward to reading more about your quest :)

When you go to Disney, a tip from my pal who goes every year is to book the all-inc food package when you book, as trying to get meals when you're there is prohibitive or has you dragging your kids out of heaven for hours to find a cheap burger van miles away.

    Good luck with your challenge!:T

  • IAO is fine, unless someone comes up with something rude.....Also in my job we use aio a lot, all in order, which given how disorganised I feel is about right...!

  • Hello sml save! Im a tea man myself although rarely, as I come from the school of thought that if you mix a lot of stuff into water and dont have beer at the end then something is wrong.!
The what to do afterwards question perplexes me, as Im op each month, I should get my mortgage payment and op back. dw wants to move but Im not going to do a big mortgage again, The plan is that big ds will be ten and lil ds will be 6 so should be good for an ice cream tour or two, and other things like hot air ballooning, which if i was ten i would love......oooh and their is a lot of europe to park my bum in that it hasnt been to yet... and then the dw pension to sort... i have a big list and gets bigger with every chunk off the mortgage.

  • Actually been a very destructive day, never been called witty before so it inspired me to take apart an old wardrobe that ive been meaning to do, and switch utilities, do I get a special star if I beat Martins suggestions on this week email, quidco and cheaper bills... what was i doing with myself, should have done it ages ago......

4.49% is a very good fix and you have another 20 months left
If you do find you can afford more than the 10% allowed each year then consider reducing the term by a few years ( something to discuss with the OH !)
    Good Luck
