hello all,
i bought the blackberry 9700 a few days ago and am still waiting for my number to be ported accross from o2 to vodaphone.
I'm wondering, does my blackberry automatically activate when my number is ported? it's asking for an email and password, something along the lines of 'enterprise activation'?
Thanks in advance

Enterprise activation is for BES and you have to have a subscription for it (and it's not cheap). Your BB should be on BIS and I think it should activate automatically.0

when i try and set up my email account, the only option available is to make an email account with a blackberry enterprise server. it that perhaps because i still have no reception yet i.e. no number on the phone so the option to set-up a personal email is not available yet?0 -
Yeah, you will need the correct service books sent to your phone and this won't happen until BIS has been activated on your phone.0

Hi simon_says,
Is everthing working ok now? Provided you gave your PAC code at point of sale your number should of activated within 48 hours.
Regarding Blackberry services:
BES (recommended for business use)
BIS (recommended for personal use)
BIS stands for Blackberry Inernet Service. Basically, this is a service from your provider that lets you receive email and access the internet on personal Blackberries. BIS differs from BES, or Blackberry Enterprise Server, in that BIS retrieves personal email whereas BES retrieves corporate email. Normally, BIS provides push email for up to 10 non-corporate email accounts and some form of internet data service, whether that be a set MB limit, or unlimited.

Hope that helps you

You will know when it is active, as the connection type, gprs, edge, 3g, will change to uppercase, GPRS etc.0
