Been offered 3 very similar deals from Orange on Blackberry Storm and Curve, Motorola Dext & HTC Hero.

Just wondered on the consensus view on which was the better phone to get if the deals are the same.

Do you need a keyboard? Do you send lots of emails? I'd have the Curve over the Storm - the virtual keyboard is poor. Never had a Blackberry so can't talk about the OS but my friends love them.

Or go Android - which I'd prefer to the Crackberry. Again do you want a keyboard? The Hero doesn't have one but is by far the better phone. Moto build quality poor, HTC superb.

So if you want a keyboard, Curve beats DEXT, if you don't, Hero beats them all.

Thanks for advice, don't specifically need a keyboard so looking at Hero possibly.

Does the HTC have a lot of applications available?

I have had a blackberry for about 6 weeks now, and a liking it more every day!! I don't use e mail function much however, do read my emails as they come through. I am not a massive internet user, but when I need to its sleek and easy to do so. The free apps from Blackberry are plentiful and easy to download. It just a 'nice' phone even though its over spec'd for me really!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

I'd go with the Hero. Are you sure that Orange offered you the Storm? It's exclusive to Vodafone.

That's what they said but I'll check when they ring me back. Am I right in saying there's no GPS on the Blackberry 8520? Need map function so I think a straight choice between Hero & Storm.

Hero runs Android, there are a pile of applications and more on the way. Can't help with a link - I'm a WinMo man!

I have the Hero with Tmobile ..Very Good phone.
I have unlimited internet and I think You will need to include some kind of internet package with the phone to get the most out of the it..This is probably true for any of the ones you listed.
The face book app and iplayer are very good ..Most random (but useful ) app has to be the metal detector ,great for finding wiring and pipes before you knock a nail in the wall.

Also the new Android operating system will run on this phone ...So the good phone gets even better.

You were right, they mixed up Storm with Bold 9700. Therefore as this has GPS, its choice of Bold vs HTC, leaning on HTC but waiting for better deal.
  • If you don't need a keyboard then its Hero all the way. Or hang fire and get a Nexus.

As a WinMo user I would recommend the HTC HD2 which blows the Hero away. Except they are hard to find after Vodafone did a deal with the devil and despite massive demand has ditched the phone in order to be given the Holy iPhone.
