Asda - customer service

I bought a sandwich toaster from Asda about 6 weeks ago, just a cheap one but it worked really well. 2 days ago I had to take it back as the bottom fell off (melted I think). Anyway, I didn't have my receipt and was anticipating having to haggle a bit, but to my surprise, the lady at the customer service desk took one look at it and told me to go and get a replacement one straight away without any questions or argument! She just packed it in a bag and gave me the replacement receipt in case I had to return this one.

I think this was really good customer relations and I think some of the other snotty larger companies could take a note out of Asda's book with regards to returns. I was very pleased!

    Hi all,

    Hi JackieClarrie,

Asda's customer service has always been excellent.

They very rarely ask questions when you return goods for a refund.

Mrs Sayer worked there many songs ago and I could write a whole website with the reasons people used in order to return goods.

One of the big cons would be that a customer would buy an item of clothing for a night out, or xmas, or new year, or whatever; wear the item and subsequently return it for a full refund. Asda would normally refund without question.

Some people would even kit out their whole family and take most of the items back for a refund at a later date.

    Leo :):)

This was the first 5-Star posting I came across for Asda..... So,

My local branch is undergoing improvements and is closing at 10pm temporarly, I didn't know this at the time. I popped there tonight 10.45pm to replace a purchase made by mistake - Fish catfood 12* kitekat sachets (3 boxes). I went to the staff entrance and was greeted by an Asda Colleague whom was watching the workmen, he explained that the store was shut, checkout closed and skeleton staff. I told him that I would not be able to return and that my cat was getting angry hungry. He tried his best and managed to get them changed, they had ran out of the "Meat Kitekat" so exchanged for Whiskas FOC.

Asda are impressive, even when closed!! Brilliant ;D

Asdas used to give 2-year warranties for all electronic equipment (don't know if they still do...)

Anyway a friend bought a DVD player there, when DVDs first came out, it cost about £200.

A couple of week short of 2 years later, the DVD player packed up. She took it back to Asdas with the receipt.

Of couse they didn't have the same make/model and DVD players were then costing about £50. My friend was told to choose another one, which she did, costing £50 and Asdas swapped them and gave her the £150 difference back! Excellent!

I suspect that their customer service has something to do with the fact that ASDA is owned by Wal-Mart (the american company) which is reknown for its high level of customer service.

Wal Mart in america has a 3 month no questions asked return policy. AFAIK no receipt required.
  • I have always enjoyed shopping at Asda and their staff are absolutely fantastic. The customer service level is second to none in my opinion.
  • Talking of Asda customer returns...

I bought a printer for my PC, but stupidly did not compare prices first. I now know that I can buy a better printer for slightly less or the same price - from somewhere else (ie via the internet).

Ive read somewhere that asda do a 28 day no quibble money back guarantee.

Does anybody know if this is correct, or am I clutching at straws?

I have all the original packaging - but I have used it a few times (its less than 24hrs old).

    Any ideas?
  • You can return it as long as you havent used it? But you have used the ink? so i would just keep it.
They may do a price comparison? but you would have to ask. Im suprised you didant look on the net first? i mean it is for your computer!
I bought one for £60 and i've seen the same one for £10 cheaper! But to go 20 miles away isant worth the hassle.
I'm not poor i'm just skint
  • I ordered online a tv stand, guarenteed delivery on tuesday last. after 5 phone calls ( to their call centre in I suspect india at 5Pence a minute, Oh and the call centre employees all have Indian accents but strangly are called Wayne Zoe Eric Rudi and Rudi (Yeah as if I beleive that))and 2 emails I have had 3 promises of return calls none of which have arrived, and no reply to the emails. They have had my money and now dont seem to give a toss.
I will never EVER deal with them and recommend that all moneysavers do likewise.
  • Just phoned again, the call centre is in South Africa, but Guess What? I'M STILL WAITING FOR A RETURN CALL!
THE ARE EITHER USELESS OR JUST TRYING TO MAKE MORE MONEY OUT OF ME. ANYONE GOT A PHONE NUMBER FOR THE HEAD OFFICE?
  • I went to a local asda friday with an advert from the newspaper to buy an ipod and get a free £25 itunes with it but when I went to the store they refused to honor the advert because the itunes card in the paper was a different colour and picture to what they had instore the advert didin't say it had to be the same colour and picture and no stores have that card in because they all have the christmas cards in now the value was the same so to me they are illegally advertising something taht they don't have.I have e-mailed a complaint and surprise surprise they ahve not answered me typical of shoddy asda.
