Selling free upgrade mobile

Hi All

I am due a free upgrade with Orange. Was wondering if I can get away with accepting a new shiney phone but just selling it straight on and continuing to use my current phone?

Would there be problems with the new phone being locked to my SIM - would I have to register the new phone etc etc.

I have never had an upgrade before so unsure if there would be implications or not?

Many thanks in advance
Katy xx

I've done the same a few times, not intended too, just didn't much like the phone when I actually got it home so sold it to buy a different one. Never had any problems.

You can do whatever you like with the phone once you recieve it, either register the new sim and stick it in your old phone or don't register the new sim and keep it as a spare
  • It might be possible to change your contract, reduce your payments and avoid having an unwanted phone.

If this were possible and a reasonable deal it has the advantage that if your current phone then breaks or is lost you don't have to pay the remainder of a contract and have no phone !

    Thanks for all the advice.

To be honest IJC, I would like to sell the upgrade to get some money to pay off my credit card balance. I was worried at first that it might be a bit morally wrong but the free upgrade is on offer to me so it is mine to do with as I choose really so I'm hoping I can use it for the greater good and reduce my debts! ;)

One more quicky - would it be a good idea to get an orange PAYG sim to sell with it, so I can sell it as a Orange PAYG phone, brand new and ready to use....or would it be better to get the phoen unlocked?

Depends what phone it is really and where you are selling it then weigh up cost of unlocking against what extra you would get for it, might be better to sell it as it is but add a note that it can be unlocked cheapily ( by the buyer) easily, regarding the sim card for what they cost ie £0 its probably worth adding one.
