Sky broadband MAC code

I am currently with sky for my broadband and wish to transfer to another provider. I phoned customer services and requested a MAC code. I was informed i was still in a 12 month contact and would need to see this out before i could leave. I want to keep the rest of my services.
Today i have received my MAC code though the post today. Does this mean i can use it and transfer my internet?
I currently pay nothing for my internet with sky so if they wish to charge me for the remaining 1 1/2 months then thats fine by me. 0 x 1 1/2 = £0

From memory when I worked there there was a penalty in place for leaving in minimum term while on the broadband base (£0) package. Also if you got any equipment on a deal with broadband (like the cheap HD box if you take phone and broadband) then they can clawback any discount you received.0 -
Never got anything like a cheap HD Box. At the time i wanted to leave Sky but they gave me a good deal to stay with them although nothing was mentioned about having to stay for 12 months.
If i have to stay then i will but why give me a MAC code.0 -

You don't 'have' to stay. But if you do break your contract by leaving early, then they can charge and will charge you with an early termination fee.
If you ask for a MAC, then they're obliged to give it to you, whether you are still in contract or not. It's then up to you whether you use it or not. A MAC does not terminate your contract until you choose to use it (within 30 days). No free lunch, and no free laptop
