Switch from Sky To Virgin?

Hi All,
Had a card through the door from VM offering free hd box, installation with the xl package for £21.50pm(includes ESPN)add to that phone for £11 and broadband for £10 so £42.50 pm with the first 2 months free. I currently have sky 2 mixes plus sky sports and I am paying £55 pm(phone,TV,Broadband)now my sports discount has finished. I am seriously considering switching as I fancy HD but cannot afford to upgrade to sky HD at present plus they were not willing to offer any deals to stay so would be £109 just for the box and install alone plus a tenner on top of what I am paying pm.
Has anyone any experience of VM good or bad.
Cheers
Jim

With VM you do not OWN the V+ box or any other equipment they install, you are leasing it.That is how, unlike Sky,they can replace the box for free when it is 6 months or even 6 years old.
If it is installed & set up correctly, you should have no issues.

We took the plunge with the same deal. Waiting for it to be installed.

Sky have said that we wont have internet as it takes 14 days to disconnect. Is this rubbish.

If you are getting VM Cable BBand, then your internet will be working when the install is complete.Cable BBand works completely different to Sky's & does'nt go thru the phoneline.

Thats what I thought but they are switching it off before we get Virgin installed. My GF is on the case. She needs it for work. Pretty sure she told Sky what date we ned it to in the first place. So I think they are basically saying we do not get bb for the last 14 days of our contract with SKY. That doesn't sound right to me. Or fair

BTW got the installation of Virgin for free too.

Well I have ended up staying with sky I cancelled but had a change of heart and called back ended up getting the box and installation free plus £8pm off sky sports so effectively paying £2 for HD sub. But of course nothing with sky ever runs smoothly as I had cancelled the phone and broadband they could not get it switched back on so will have to re register on 12th Feb,they did not say anything about the service being interupted after 14 days as mentioned above.

Because as you cancelled, the disconnection has already started & cannot be stopped due to it being passed to BT Openreach for disconnection & they cant reprovision the phone & bband until the existing job is closed off.
Not Sky's fault as you cancelled & then changed you mind.

I didn't know that but I thought as I phoned back after around 10 minutes it would have been ok any ideas if they will be anle to re connect me the same day if I choose to continue with their BB and if they are liable to charge me?

More than likely be put thru as a new order. The disconnection would've been started when you were on the phone initially.

I have been with Virgin for many years now. No complaints and the BB is the best I have used. Very fast.
