why does my internet cut off?

If using Vista then go to Network and Sharing Centre
Click on Computers and Devices
Right click on your modem and click on View Device Webpage
Now look on left hand side and click on ADSL Internet Settings
Click on ISP settings and look down the list for "Connect Type" change this to "Always connected"0
