Parcel been nabbed?!

Hi all

I ordered some boots off of Ebay on 3rd January and they were apparently delivered by courier on 7th January (the seller gave me the tracking number and name of courier company).

I phoned the company and apparently someone I have never heard of signed for them

I live above a business and we're good friends with the proprietor so I have left her a message to see if she knows the name of this person and am waiting to hear back, but I suspect my parcel has been nicked.

Where do I stand with this? The courier company said check to see if the lady knows the man who signed for the parcel but if not they will interview the driver. Will I get a refund?? I paid through Paypal but the money came off my credit card.

The cheek of some people! :(

If it's not your name on the delivery note, then you didn't receive them, so you'd need to open a dispute on ebay, or at least contact the seller to let them know you haven't received them.

It's then up to the seller to sort it out with the courier.

Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

She would lose any dispute all paypal require is online proof of delivery. As its been signed for even by a different person the dispute would be lost

Hi, well after ringing around and getting a right headache here's what has happened:-

The boots were delivered to a solicitor's office down the road (not even near my flat!) and a guy signed for them.

I spoke to him and he said he took the package to the local post office and the post office said they would speak to the postman when he came to see what to do with it.

I rang the local post office who did not have the package and said that the postman may have taken the parcel to the local depot. And guess what, I rang the depot and it's not there

I rang the courier company back and they said to contact the seller and tell him what had happened and that the seller would have to claim a refund from the courier company and issue me with new boots or a refund.

So I have now done this. Why the courier took it to a solicitor's office not even that near to me I'll never now and they didn't leave a card to tell me where the boots had been delivered to! Not heard anything from the seller yet but should I be ok to at least get a refund? I would ideally like the boots but if not, then at least get the money back!

You won't automatically be getting a refund from paypal as seller can show the items were delivered, items under £150 don't need a signature online for the seller to win. However I'm sure the seller will do everything she can to sort this out for you.

I've had major issues with one courier firm in particular, lying about delivering things, then when they did deliver they too delivered to the wrong place!
For further reference (and I do hope you don't go through this again) I'd consider having items delivered to another local e.g. work (if possible) or someone elses house (again if practical) and if you ever buy something and they state it will be delivered by courier ask when company will deliver your items and let them know what issues you've have previously-I do this and now get a better service. I've even said I'd cancel an order when the company stated they would use a 'certain' courier. The company said they'd send it via the post office-and they did which worked out better for me.
As for paypal situ, I'd say the seller (sender) needs to get their finger out (if they have not already done so) as they sent the item and you have not received it.
    Good Luck.

Beats me what it had to do with the post office or postman tbh. Why on earth take it there? Unless the courier was Parcel Force?

It wasn't DX was it? They seem to be both dishonest and idiotic enough.

They were supposed to be delivering a parcel to me (but I didn't know that) They say they came but didn't leave a card. Evidently they don't leave cards.

About two weeks after I ordered I got a letter saying to go on the DX website to arrange a redelivery. I wanted a Saturday. They don't do Saturdays.

I took a day off work for them to come and watched my order on the website all day. It suddenly switched from "out for delivery" to "no answer at delivery address" - but they hadn't tried to deliver at all the big fat liars.

Eventually they admitted that they hadn't been to my house at all and suggested that I take another day off to wait in for them.

    Not !!!!!!!g likely!

I had a simillar thing happent to me, i order an item off ebay, paid instantly, got a dispatch note, a week later still nothign so email seller, told dispatched wait a few days, waited still nothing, then seller states heres the tracking number and i used this courier, tracking stated 'left in safe location' but had no details of an address sent to or anything, so i contact seller and told him i hadnt had them and contacted courier who couldnt even confirm where the item was sent

Seller sends out a send parcel using same courier, still nothing, emailed seller to be told that it had been signed for, seller send me tracking info for courier, log on and its got a name, but again no address of where its gone, no one in my road has that surname (its only a small road and we all know each other)

contact paypal and open INRD and got a refund.

The seller sent me a copy of their invoice/receipt for the courier and it doesnt even look real, its not got any dates on just my address, the tracking and paid! Ive used a lot of different couriers before and it didnt even have their logo!!
  • Hi,

Have you thought about opening a dispute with the courier company? After all, they have delivered your parcel to a different address and accepted a signature from someone other than the adressee - all without your permission.

That would be deemed as failiure to have been delivered in my book!

Sounds odd - why would the solicitor accept and sign for a parcel if it wasn't for him or anyone he knows, then go out of his way to take it to the post office? Looks like the courier is at fault here for delivering to the wrong address.
