Sony Ericsson C902 unlocking query

Just paid £10 to have a Sony Ericsson C902 unlocked from Orange network. However, the phone will not recognise 3 sim. Anyone suggest what the problem might be?

Comments

  • I used to work for Vodafone, and it used to be the case that 3 SIMs worked slightly differently to all other network SIMs, and would only work in 3 phones.

That was a couple of years ago now, though; I could be totally wrong!
  • It's my DD's phone and she has been using her 3 sim in a phone unlocked from O2 network with no problems. Not tried any other sim in the 'orange' phone yet tho'.

You also need to debrand the phone. I have done that on my C902 and it now accepts all sims, including the 3 network :)
  • How would I go about debranding this phone? Is it straightforward? When I took the phone back to the guy who unlocked it he didn't mention anything about debranding - he just said it's probably been reported lost or stolen and been blocked. I have contacted the person I bought it from (on ebay) and they seem genuine and have offered me a full refund. I really like the phone though and would like to keep it if I can get it to work.

I would report it to ebay and police if there is suspicion of it being stolen - just think of the person whose phone it might really be.

If it is stolen - debranding will not help - it will be locked out by the network completely on all networks (if the original owner reported the IMEI)
  • The ebay seller assures me it is not stolen and I tend to believe them - they have 100% positive feedback - and have offered a full refund for the phone and the £10 it cost me for unlocking.
