    and you get the results saying i can get council tax benefits.

    Fill in section 11 properly. Make sure both incomes are showing in the box and they are not left at £0. (Change tab to annual earnings)

    I think this is where you are going wrong.

    Sorry I meant net earning's. I left that blank how do I work out those answers for those questions or where can i find the answers.

    Don't you know how much you both bring home every month?

    Just to add a bit more perspective here - I will have to pay over half my council tax with an income of £7k and two children...

    You leave section 10 blank as its additional income

    In section 11, make sure you click on the annual tab and then type in your annual salaries into the box. (YOUR GROSS SALARIES)

    The system will then automatically work out all your taxation contributions.

    Click next and thats it.

    Sorry is gross what I what I get paid before or after tax. I have my p60 in front of me and it says pay total for this year and the nanother column that says tax deducted.

    Gross is your £24k and £12k figures.

    When you input these into section 11, you will see the other boxes being filled in automatically for net earnings.

    Snap!! Earning just a little more than that, 2 children and I still have to pay £14 per week in council tax
