I give up with Asda

Options
I have just been into Asda and I thought I would try using a couple of low value coupons at the tills, just to test the waters. So, I picked a young male and put through £12.57 worth of shopping. I gave him 3 coupons, 50p, 30p and 20p, so they totaled £1. None of them were Asda own, all manufacturers and all well in date.

He looked at them, then looked at my till receipt to see what I had purchased. He called a supervisor. The woman came and said, you didn't buy these items so you can't use the coupons. I said, 'oh, I'm sorry, I thought Asda had a policy where I could use a small % of my shopping bill in coupons' She raised her voice and said... why should anyone else pay for your shopping? I think you have a cheek to ask' and walked away. I was really embarrassed.

This was a different store from the one I had self scan issues with. Incidentally, I popped into that Asda and handed the coupons in at customer services, the ones that the machine wouldn't take. The woman said they had issues with that machine jamming when anyone puts a coupon in so in future, use another machine or hand them to the supervisor.

I'm not having much luck with this though am I?

I think ASDA are great. I no longer go in-store though, it is always packed at my local store as the only other local supermarket is Sainsbury's... so basically there is no other place to shop. I use their online delivery facilities that are top-notch.

If the drivers are late (or want to be early as in this Saturday likely!) then they will ring in advance to warn you. If you are out they will return later that day.

There are always valid discount vouchers --- a tenner off your bill (which works out @ 4.05 off your bill since delivery is £5.95).

You always pay what is quoted on the computer screen... not the local store prices. AND there are blatent misprices on the web at the moment.

Buying a regular weeks worth of shopping used to cost me between 50 and 60 quid. Now (utilising the power of multibuys and mispricing and knowledge) I get my shopping delivered to my door by nice delivery guys who are always smiling and chatty for ~ 30 quid. What's that... 40% discount.. :D ... and I don't have to waste my time going to the store and trying to squueze the car into the car parking spaces knowing fine well that some little !!!!!! is going to scratch it, or push a trolley into it..! Ahhhh.... bliss.

Also worth mentioning... I have had one issue in the past with "fresh" produce being delivered that was a bit shabby. Phoned customer service (some southern-hemisphere far-eastern call centre) who refunded everything I asked them to... no squabbling... no hard-sell... no problems.

As this is the discounts & vouchers forum I should note that quite a few of the codes run out 30/June... but needless to say there are still plenty available.

Just out of interest, what are the known pricing errors on tesco.com?

    Thanks!

Just checked on the ASDA website, and unfortunately they do not deliver to my area yet. I have filled in the form to be told when they do.

I think shopping on line must also be cheaper as you are not tempted by the things that you see to put extra in your trolley and just keep to your list.

Toto, most Asda's have a policy of accepting coupons up to a certain percentage but I gather from reading posts on this forum that not all do. I would ask at CS what their policy is as in my experience sometimes even supervisors are not aware of it - especially if they're new or have transferred from another store. Or go to a till with a mature lady on - they always know the policy!

I would disagree with that statement. Supervisors are full-time employees and so will have their own interests or the companies best interests in mind. A supervisor will not want to be hauled over the coals because someone got 20% off their shopping bill. A supervisor will know the policy but will try their hardest to make you pay full price instead of receiving the discounts you are entitled to. Remember - as long as the store sells the product that the voucher refers to then the store will get the cash value reimbursed by the manufacturer anyway.

May I suggest that you try to find a part-time member of staff. This is what I used to do before online shopping became an every-week occurrence. I used to find the part-time students were the best... since they have no knowledge of customer service or store ploicy, will rarely raise their head to even notice the vouchers you are supplying, and basically do not care one little bit about how much your total is reduced by.

Went to Asda again for a change yesterday - my student on the till didn't know anything about coupons, reductions, price matching, putting money on cards. The supervisor in her wisdom thought Asda no longer took any manufactors coupons  ..... Lets just say I'm not planning a return visit soon

I had been having a bad couple of weeks with Asda and Tesco re coupons. Even this week had my coupons refused, been given disgusted looks, and told "only accept up to 10%" - was offered one mag coupon !!
Yesterday and today in Asda had a couple of Mag coupons accepted, no questions asked - and on each shop they came to over 25% of the bill so......diff day, diff sa, diff story.
This is why I don't buy loads of mags/papers just for the coupons, because I can never GUARANTEE they will be accepted in time, and the mag coupons tend to have very short use-by dates.
Just smile when they say no, pocket the coupons, and try again tomorrow:D

maybe it time to start a coupon exchange thread where u can swap the coupons you don't buy the product for coupons you will be the product of. If your buying the product you wont get your coupons refused. I'm sure people on here will buy different shopping and require different types of coupons. Just an idea
