I've made bright pink and black stationery for a friends wedding, but I'm not sure if I should show them off as a different available element, or try to stick with an elegant look....
personally speaking I like to see a variety! bright pink and black are the colours for my wedding, and although my mum and I are intending to make the invites ourselves (I am really chuffed that we will be doing it together and excited that my mum will be having real hands on input!), when I have been browsing sites etc, I have tended to ignore the ones that appear to focus on the traditional, because its not what I am in to. I think nowadays more people are veering away from the traditional (not that there is anything wrong with trad by the way!), so its better to show variety - plus it shows customers you can adapt and have a range of skills!
As I said though, this is all my humble opinion! Good luck with your venture! :j0 -
Just had another thought for a way of advertising - I used to be a Virgin Vie (now Vie At Home) consultant, and was trained in wedding make up. I didnt really advertise, was more word of mouth, but I had a friend who made wedding cakes who used to give out my leaflet as part of a wee pack when people enquired about cakes etc, and I used pics of her cakes in my leaflet.
If you can get in touch with other independent wedding-y type people in your area, than you can do a bit of swopsies with, that can help.0 -
Hi Saucy
I make and sell wedding stationery too. I've always found that word of mouth is the best recommendation, and getting references from customers or from friends that you may have made cards for previously.
I have a website too and advertise in various places, but word of mouth for me has always been the best way to get any business.
Hope this helps,
Sal

i dont think she would be allowed to do that? as it would be like advertising on here I think?
i might be wrong tho, just dont want to see the op getting in trouble lol
I make and sell stationery, but at the mo its just specialised stuff (vw themed), I have a stand at a lot of vw shows, I am on a lot of the forums, and I have a website that I advertise at shows etc and this year i plan on taking a leap and advertising either on the big vw forum or in a agazine ...scary prices tho lol
I am planning on branching out into non vw stuff soon and am planning on using ebay to kick start it also thought I would try and get a long to a couple of wedding fairs and craft fairs (depending on cost)
ebay is a nice easy way to reach lots of people and see what the reaction is, without too much outlay
