Ok got my dad on too now (bf has to go on anyway coz we share our cars) and it took about £10 off it(my dad has never had an accident and has had his licence for nearly 40 years).
I think thats gonna be the best its gonna do, other than messing with the address/parking overnight a bit. And when it comes to finally buy it I will check quidco and call them to see if they can do better.
Hopefully next year, Ill be 25 and with (fingers crossed) one year NCB so...it might be alot less! Thanks for everyones help.
Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!

    Who have you insured with?

Its always worth ringing them a week or so after taking the policy and saying "I found this quiote for xx.xx cheaper on (comparison site) - can you match it" and see what they say

OP could you try putting your mother on instead (or any woman over 30 really with a cleanish licence)? Women are often a lower risk than men, so it might be more worthwhile than putting your dad on.

Adding my wife on lowers my insurance by about 25%, despite her having two crashes (knock for knock) , none for me, and both of us having licences for 10 years.

There you go, try adding jaydeeuk1's wife to your policy, it could save you 25%

    Quinn however are notoriously bad!

Now you say that, but my brother made a claim through Quinn a few years ago and they dealt with it pretty well, even when the other party was refusing to co-operate.

The matter was settled within about 3 weeks, the car was declared a write-off and he ended up with a cheque for more than he paid for the car.

At the end of the day. All insurance companies are sh!ts and the first chance they get to pull one over on you, they'll take it. No insurance company is different in that regard.

I'll clarify, I have never had a policy with quinn and dont intend to! Sounds like your brother had a good experience - which is great news. However Quinn have a reputation for very dubious practices.

And yes, you are quite correct - pretty much all insurance companies, given half a chance will try to pull one over - how else could they possibly make any money? ;):rotfl:

The policy is in your mothers name - if she uses the car most then you are fine.

If YOU use the car most then you are fronting. Simple really
