Ceiling Light Wiring Problem
Comments
-
I hope some clever people here can give me some advice.
I have a ceiling light that I have taken down and the wiring also looks like the pic below. We had a plastic pendant before and bought a fancy metal spot that needs to be earthed - its in a bedroom/office.
The old light only used the brown and black (I understand its because its was plastic) but can we use the earth cable that is a dark green. Does it have to go through the connector or can it go straight from the green wire into the fitting?
To be honest I willl be getting an electrician to do the work I just wanted to understand what the option is before I get fleeced!!
Thanks!
PS I know I can get a double insulated fitting but they are so expensive (may be cheaper than a spark though!!)
BTW, I am not a "lazysaver" anymore - bit of a daft username really

If there is a green earth wire present then by all means you should use it.
The wire needs to connect straight to the separate earth terminal on the fitting.Gus.0
