Happy with your 'modern' combination boiler ?

Hi,
I would be really grateful for any opinions..... We have just been quoted to replace our warm air heating with a new 'modern' combination boiler and radiators. They have quoted a Valliant ecoTech 937 with 2 year warranty and we just wondered how reliable these boilers are - the idea of instant water, cheap running costs, etc. is great but I have also been reading some horror stories regarding reliability - breakdowns, noise, etc. Our warm air has never gone wrong in the past 12 years and we are in two minds whether to change - the only reason we are considering changing is that (1) we might want to sell the house in the future and estate agents have advised we should have a modern heating system. (2) The upstairs vents are probably not that efficient being located in the ceilings.
Many thanks.

Hi,
1) Never take advice from an estate agent.
2) Find someone who specialises in warm air to upgrade your existing system.
If you really must have it ripped out then the Vaillant is a good boiler as long as it is fitted properly to a clean system it will work well, provided you have good mains water pressure.

I'am sure you can get a hot water only modern Combi type boiler.
If you do go for a Combi system just follow the usually advice get a decent brand ie Bosch Worcester. and get it fitted by a decent fitter.0 -
The 937 is a 15l storage combi, it's pretty special, and fairly pricey, get a few more quotes and see if this one is really needed. May be better to go for a system with a tank is you do have a reason for the 937.0
