Alternative to NYC?

Hey all

Myself and a group of friends are contemplating a 5-7 night break end of Nov/early Dec this year. We all love NYC and have been twice at that time of year before. I also have spent a considerable time in NYC whilst working in US.

So I was wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere similar to NYC to go at that time of year (US or Canada preferably)? We want the 'Christmassy' feel that you get in NYC, and good shopping!

TIA

Philadelphia and King of Prussia, PA! It's VERY christmassy and there is no tax on food (in grocery stores) or clothing :D

Boston is beautiful at any time of year, and especially so at Christmas.
    Gone ... or have I?

Montreal would be lovely (albeit very cold) at that time of year.

  • Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I've been to Boston before, but Philly or Montreal are definately worth looking into :)

King of Prussia Mall is no-where near central Philly. It's a decent drive up a terribly busy interstate (can't recall the number). There is very little of interest near the mall to keep you interested if visiting in the winter. Weather can be tricky in the winter, and it's far more isolated compared to NYC.

and Philly is a bit of a dump.

  • Never been their, but the recommendations I'm getting from friends is putting Vancouver towards the top of my list:

I've done Toronto 3 times before! One of my best friends lives there! I'm swaying towards Montreal at the moment. Vancouver is meant to be lovely but I think it's too far for a 5-7 night break.

    Cheers!

Vegas? It's not a traditional Christmassy city- but there's plenty of Christmassy stuff...and plenty of shopping. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I said Philadelphia andddddddddddddd King of Prussia...and easy there.. I was born and raised 20 mins outside of Philly...Of course it has bad places but most major cities do and hmmm every place in London is so clean? Right! Doesn't stop me from going to London and having a good shop though ;)

Philadelphia has alotttttt of history there and some great sites to see too. The shopping is great. I however usually go shopping in the area of King of Prussia when i go back to visit PA as the shopping is fab!! The Mall is the largest shopping complex in the US too ;)

If you have any questions regarding Philly or the area..feel free to PM me ;)
