How about adding extra detail to the megashopbot tool, cashback, vouchers etc you could do this in the form of tick boxes.0

I'd like a web app please to monitor bank savings interest rates for any account that's been in Martin's recommendations and to let you know instantly by e-mail when the rate goes down.
I often find that banks mysteriously drag their heels about letting you know when they've dropped your savings rate if in fact they ever let you know at all.
It can also be difficult to figure out what the rate actually is because of similarly named accounts with different rates and the effect of varying short term bonuses that apply depending on exactly what date you opened the account.
I think MSE could probably make money out of this idea, because when you send out a rate change alert e-mail you could include the latest account recommendation with an affiliate link where available or just link to the existing savings article.
Note: I posted this one on the site suggestions forum last month, but maybe this thread is a now better place.

When I'm out and about, I mainly use the location-based features of my iphone, and it'd be great if you could build something based on these.
(Also include a feature where I can enter a location (where I'll be in future) to find out the information in advance and print off any vouchers etc)
So, take my current/future location and let me pick from
1. Suggestions of free things to do e.g. 'consider going to the library rather than buying a book - it's just round the corner' or 'the Art Gallery opposite has free entry'. This is a bit easier than the below as the data is static so it might be a good starting point.
2. Restaurants with offers nearby
3. Shops with offers nearby.
4. Offers/good deals in the shop (e.g. supermarket or Boots) I'm about to go into. You could also make downshift suggestions (eg try own-brand Jaffa Cakes - only 29p)
5. Entertainment offers, such as cheap theatre or cinema tickets. Or eg 2 for 1 bowling deals. Plus 'days out' deals, so whilst on holiday with the kids, I could check what's on in the area - I might not have internet access although I would have my phone.
6. Maybe even currency conversion rates at vendors nearby - I'd have to specify what currency I needed, of course.
Basically this could be applied to buying/consuming anything 'nearby'0 -
cashback guardian - browser addon
this is a niffty browser add on that flags up any websites cash back deals .
once flagged up you can then view any offers from all the major cashback sites
it works for i.e and firefox and in true m/s tradition it's a free download

A Motivator ticker/app where you can update all your savings and calculates how much do you need to reach your target(s). I've tried to find an application like that for my PDA and I couldn't find any app out there. Please let me know if you have something like that on your device.0

Whatever you do, dont just concentrate on iphone apps! Theres plenty ppl who dont want to be forced to use the iPhone. But that company is ingrained into society and has a stranglehold over the world market. Lets see some apps for some other phone OSs like symbion etc for a change.0

how about a service where we all give MSE our details (bank, location, car, dietary requirements etc) and some automagical MSE server super shopbot uses that collective buying power to get us the best deal all the time, sort of like a personal financial manager/agent/proxy? bills get paid to the lowest charging supplier, debts get shifted to the cheapest account, savings collect with the highest interest, and i only get to spend what MSE lets me at the end of the month, so i can't overspend. add some sliders and auto calculators so that i can balance the speed of debt repayment/saving against my personal needs and your there.
sorry if there's vaguaries to this but at the heart of it there's two simple ideas:
1. if we act as a group our leverage is greater
2. a computer system can compare deals and switch way more efficiently than us lot doing it by ourselves, individually.
or am i just dreaming...0 -
Could you add an alert feature please to mega shop bot, such that you get e-mailed when an item you're looking for drops below a specific price (inc. delivery)?
I've got a bunch of DVDs I want but only if the price is right. I'd like to be able to type them all in and then buy them only when the price is low enough.
It would also be useful to be able to group items as one e.g. type in a load of computer parts that are all roughly equivalent and a target price, then buy whichever one from the group drops below the target price first. There might be a nice community feature of sharing groups of equivalent items too to save other people researching them all.0 -
Creation of an application listing cheap deals to get sparkling wine online. It'd be good because it's always handy to have a couple of bottles of reserve for presents.
But, buying it at full price is sooooo dear.
So in the app, you'd have a few categories:
- Premium brand champagnes
- Non brand champagnes
- Non brand sparkling
With information about the lowest deals online and offline, witha search function - a bit like your flight checker.
Really useful on the web to save searching round sooooo many places.
Just my thought anyway....

How about a app that tells you how many hours you have to work to buy something
You put in your hourly rate after stoppages to set it up then when you see something you want to buy put in the price and it tells you how many hours you have to spend at work to buy it0
