Well done TalkTalk

Last month we decided to switch ISPs from Orange (who’d upped their charges to £19.99 a month for our internet connection) and from BT (for our phone line and calls) to TalkTalk for our internet and phone calls.

After being with Orange since the days of Wanadoo, we were very reluctant to change but I have to say it’s been brilliant with no glitches at all.

I signed up through the internet for TalkTalk essentials package and even got free connection saving us another £29.99! We were advised all the way along of what was going to happen during the changeover, got the router on time and went live on time too. Even our emails are now coming through on Outlook Express and that includes our Hotmail addresses too.

I hasten to add that I’m not a TalkTalk employee or a Carphone Warehouse employee and have no connection with either company, I just want other people to know how easy it was to change ISPs, and that I’m a very satisfied customer.

About two years ago Orange gave us a Speedtouch 330 modem and although it was a stable connection we only ever got around the 400 kbps now we’re getting 1.25 mbps!

To begin with I had quite a few questions to ask (not being a technie):

How do we get on line - it actually transpired we were already on line.
Instead of being constantly on line, can I go on and come off when I want to.
Can I get my emails from TalkTalk and Hotmail through Outlook Express?
Etc

I phoned their help line and was put through to the call centre and spoke to a very helpful man in India, he was also brilliant and answered all my questions, even staying on the free phone line to make sure everything was working properly.

We all complain on this site when things go wrong (and quite rightly too) but it seems only fair to praise when praise is due as well. Well done TalkTalk for getting it right.

    1.25mb?
You live on top of Ben Nevis or something?

It may have escaped your attention but not all parts of the UK are on ultra high speed broadband. Many areas are still on dial up at an impossibly slow 56 kbps (or less). I consider myself fortunate to be in an area where we can at least get a workable internet speed.

If you think that the only house in the land not to get really high speed broadband is on the top of Ben Nevis then you appear to be living in a little world of your own.

    Thanks for your reply though.
