i'm thinking about signing up for the o2 £20/month (200 mins, 200 texts) tariff, but i'm a bit worried it might prove not to be enough for me. i was wondering if it would ever be possible for o2 to change the package to something of equivalent value? 300 mins and 100 texts would probably be ideal for me (which vodafone do for £15/month), and i guess o2 do offer other packages at £20 a month.

i know they do this sort of thing for retentions, but how about earlier in the contract term? any experiences?

I'm pretty sure that won't be possible. The only thing that might be possible is upgrading to a tariff that costs more. You'll have to phone o2 to find out.

You shouldn't get a contract which might not be suitable for you because out of bundle minutes or text messages could prove very expensive.

Have you thought about getting the phone on pay and go and then getting a sim-only contract with it? You can get 300 minuts and lots of texts on a £15/month 1-month contract. This will save £120 over the 24 months, so if the phone costs less than that then it could be a better option.

    Also, don't forget quidco cashback.
