I have a Nokia 7210 that iI've had for nearly 3 years or so. Well a few days ago i got a text from work that was just total gobbledegook! It had loads of %^&*@@@@@@ and things like that! I could make out some of the words as this was the only way i knew it was from work as the number didn't look right either, instead of the full mobile no it just said 444 or 8965 etc

So I thought there must be something wrong with works phone but all my messages are doing this now, even people who are in my phone book their name or proper number isn't coming up and there are lots of words and symbols that don't make sense!

Can anyone help??????

Erm...may be a phone fault...can you try another phone and get someone to send you a message?

Hi. Have you checked to see if the language is set correctly? also an encoding setting if you have one.

In the meantime, and bear in mind I don't have a 7210 in stock so can't check this, but you could try connecting the phone to your computer via Bluetooth or USB Cable, then using the Nokia PC Suite for that model (if you can get hold of it) to view your messages on screen. Hopefully the problem with the text encoding will not replicate over to the PC, otherwise it's a fault with the way your phone is decoding the messages.

    Hope this helps.

    Hussein.
