This subject has been discussed on this board before but I can't for the life of me find the thread
Loads can be grown on windowsills, have a look for 2 books by Joy O.I. Spoczynska called "self-sufficiency in a flat" and "The indoor kitchen garden", these are full of useful info for indoor gardening.
