Growing veg indoors

Hi everyone,
I would like to grow some vegetables, but I have no access to any outdoor space. What I do have are window sills where I could place window boxes.
My question is, are there any vegetables that are well suited to this sort of growing?
Thanks in advance

Depends how big your Window Sills is i guess.
Probably more suited to herbs than veg but you could probably do salad leaves and spring onions, least you could get a bit of something and they grow easy with no real looking after.0 -
I have grown cherry tomatoes inside in pots and peas they did quite well0

Also, small round carrot varieties will grow indoors ok. I grew them from seed indoors and then just potted them on into a window box. They don't need the depth required by the normal long carrots. They grow to about golf ball size and were tasty and sweet.0

as stated before Herbs can be grown you can grow cherry tomatoes and peppers depending on the size and light you get at the window, you could try spring onions, lettuce (tom thumb, little gem) and radishes
you could also try the cut and come again lettuces
i found this blogs some time ago http://igrowveg.com/how-to-guides/gyo-veg-windowsill-challenge/ of some one who set them selves a challenge to grow veg on their window sill, hope it helps0 -
I have grown Basil and mini lettuce inside, easier to keep the slugs off them this way and they tasted great. Thinking of growing mini tomato plants as well this year, inside.0

This subject has been discussed on this board before but I can't for the life of me find the thread

Loads can be grown on windowsills, have a look for 2 books by Joy O.I. Spoczynska called "self-sufficiency in a flat" and "The indoor kitchen garden", these are full of useful info for indoor gardening.

i had loads indoors, not on ledges but in pots on the kitchen floor, the only problem is lack of fresh air, the soil stays damp and leads to rotting unless you can keep a good dose of fresh air daily in the roomTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000
