I used to own a emachine pc but then used some parts to build a new one and others for another pc. Anyway all was left was the case, mobo and proc. So i thought why not make a test machi ne to mess about on??
I wish i hadnt started now, i did a case mod, sprayed it, added a cathode kit. Chucked some ram and new 20gb hdd in added a dvd drive and a network card.
Turned it on....
Ok...
YAAAAYYY i thought i saw the nice emachines logo andddd......
That was all i saw i stuck on that for 10 mins ++
i have restarted it many times to no avail
Whats up wi it??????????????????????

Firstly, you havent mentioned a graphics card, i assume there is one as you have the emachines logo on screen....
Is the emachines logo the only thing that is displayed? Is it full screen?
Have you tried pressing F1 or DEL (or maybe even F2) on the keyboard to get you into the bios to update the settings based on the new hardware that you have installed?
One more question, do any beeps emit from the motherboard at any time after you press the power button to turn it on?Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

If its stuck on post (emachines logo) have you checked the bios to see of the drives are there ? as this kind of hang is usually something to do with a setup problem
Added to the last commet about the beeps , emachines usually dont have a post beep on most of there modelsIf it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anywaySarcasm helps keep you from telling people what you really think of them

try pressing the Delete Key for the Bios , if not reset the bios manually from the jumper on the motherboardIf it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anywaySarcasm helps keep you from telling people what you really think of them

just a thought this often works too , try taking everything off the board "modem, network card " back to basics then try....If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anywaySarcasm helps keep you from telling people what you really think of them

If you look on the board near the battery , there will be a jumper with JBAT1 wrtten next to it ...If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anywaySarcasm helps keep you from telling people what you really think of them

One short beep generally means all is ok with the hardware, it simply is a case of getting into the bios to see what is happening.
Every mobo has a bios reset jumper somewhere it is just a case of finding it. Alternatively try taking the battery out for a couple of minutes, this will have the same effect.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
