You can if it is a UK mobile number you are ringing e.g. if the person is roaming in OZ. If not, you will have to pay international call charges.0

no they have a local number out there, a pay as you go. i found this website
just dial uk (wont let me post the link)
but as i took out my flext tariff years ago, im guessing the 0870 number isnt included in my price plan so id have to pay for it0 -
You are able to call any UK mobile number (07) internationally and the costs will come out of your inclusive minutes.
Its the person receiving the call who will pay the roaming costs.0 -

thanks for reply, its not a UK mobile number he has. i have a tmobile uk mobile on flext tariff, and he has a local OZ mobile pay as you go. ive googled it and it does seem possible to call him and it comes out of my free minutes, but the info isnt all that clear on what access number to use etc.0 -
what i do, is buy a phonecard. ring the local number up which is a 0207 number (landline) enter the pin which is on the phonecard.
Once you have done that, you enter the number. It will use your free mins as normal. You wont get charged extra.0 -
sorry im being a little thick lol, so i buy a normal phone card, not a calling card? dial the number on the card from my mobile, enter the pin on the card, then the number (mobile) i wish to call, and it'll come out of my minutes? is that correct?0

Could you use something like Skype? It would be much easier and free.0

i dont think he has skype, dont you both need to have it? ive never used it. we use mobiles cos he doesnt always have internet connection etc when travelling around. i think im just going to have to start buying calling cards then, thanks x0

Why not get a very cheap basic secondary mobile for him and sign up to something like http://www.lebara-mobile.co.uk/en/
I have just done that for my brother! It will save him a small fortune in call and text charges from his monthly contract phone.0 -
12Voip (http://www.12voip.com/en/calling-rates.html) offer calls to Australian mobiles for 2.5p/min.
This is one of the family of Betamax VoIP providers, which offer some of the cheapest rates around. I use a different Betamax provider (www.nonoh.net) very frequently and find it excellent.
To use it from your mobile, you'll need to:
1. Add your mobile number to your 12VoIP account
2. Find a local access number from here: http://www.12voip.com/en/geo.html - there are several for different UK cities, e.g. 02081809190
To make a call, dial the access number then when the recorded message starts dial the recipient's full international number followed by #
On most mobiles you can program a single entry to dial the access number and then the recipient's number, so if the recipient's number is 0403 123 456, the phonebook entry would look like one of these:
02081809190P0061403123456#
02081809190,0061403123456#
The P or , means "pause for a second or two" - see your mobile manual for how it works with your model.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
