How much bedding to buy for baby?

Well after my other thread I'm now watching one closely to buy on ebay!

As a rough guide, how much bedding should I buy? Baby is due in Spring so not sure if that effects the amount I'll need or not?

Thanks

Do you mean how many layers, or how many sets?

If the latter, really depends on the baby. I've only got two sheets and two blankets (one to wash and one to use) and have never had a problem. Other babies are very sicky and you'll need dozens and dozens and dozens!

I suppose the first question depends on the baby too, my LO is a hot baby and only ever had the one blanket.

And if you use sleeping bags you won;t need blankets, just bottom sheets. Although I am not sure you can use them for newborns. DD sleeps in with us so just had her own blanket when she was newborn but now has bags.

Think I'm asking both feelinggood! I love the sleeping bags skintchick but wasn't sure if they could be used from newborn.

Depends on you and the baby I guess :D
My DS is a cold baby he sleeps with a vest, baby grow and a sleeping bag he also has a blanket over him and he snuggles one too :o
We have 2 slightly thick (fleece so not that thick really) and about 4 crochet type blankets in total and 2 sleets for his matress so plenty if sicked on etc... Although thank goodness he's out of that stage now :D

Would it not be different depending on what type sleeping bag it is?

I've just had a quick look on google and have found one for 0-6 months.

As far as i know sleeping bags can be used from birth but might be better not buying one depends if the baby likes swaddling or if you have even thought of it? My girl would only sleep been swaddled, my boy hated it never used a sleeping bag when he was newborn just made do with blankets he was an april baby :D

I've seen 0-6 sleeping bags too, but sure I read somewhere that they shouldn't be used for newborns..but could be imagining that!!

I have 2 bottom sheets for cot - if Jack seems a bit sicky I pop a Muslin under his head so that I dont have to change the whole sheet.

I had 3 sheets for moses basket.

    I have 3 cellular blankets & 3 sleeping bags

I always think in 3's - one on, one in wash & a spare.

Since its been really cold I have put a blanket over Jack even though he has a sleeping bag on. I know you arent supposed to but he wakes up if I don't!

One of the things I was most worried about was knowing how many blankets to put on the baby! My Mum told me that I'd just 'know' and I didn't believe her but turned out I was right.

Personally, I'd just buy a couple of cellular blankets and a couple of sheets, and then wait and see how you get on. They are easy enough to come by if you find you need to wash them more frequently.

For swaddling, do you just use a normal blanket?

I have so much to learn! :o
