Tiscali speed upgrades

I have just spoken to Tiscali about their speed upgrades,and I was told by the operative that their packages will be phased in during next week,and that current customers will be notified prior,by either an e.mail or a phone call,when it will be happening.

We will wait and see. :-/

I have to say,the only thing that hacks me off about them,is the fact the e.mail has a problem insofar as the Tiscali system regularly stops sending it to Outlook Express,which I use.

I can get my e.mails if I access the Tiscali server,but my preference is Outlook Express,and it can be annoying.

Sometimes the speed is slow,but then again I should imagine other ISP's suffer from slow speeds as well.

Their tech line is cheap to access,using an 0870 number,but at night,calls are diverted to India,and you can hardly hear them or understand them,although they are efficient.

Price wise.Well they are as competitive as all the BIG names,and it's a 12 month contract,which some people don't like,but as I'm about to be upgraded to 1mb speed for free,time will tell.

All in all,they're not that bad,but everyone will have a story to tell.

we too have received an email and letter that states we will get free upgrade during later part of Jan.
our contract is a year in and we did have some teething problems at the start which got sorted and seems to be OK so far.

Well the plot thickens.

I rang them up,and asked them when it was likely to happen,as I haven't received any phone call or mail from them,and I'm now told it will be towards the end of February,as I'm on 512 and they are upgrading 256 customers first.

So that means,those who are paying more for a service,are to be upgraded after those who are on the cheaper service.

I would have thought,the ones who pay more should get the upgrade first,as the way it stands at the moment,I'm paying more for my connection,than someone who has just been upgraded,yet they have the same connection speed as me.

While I'm not having a go at the 256 customers,and I can't blame them if they have been given the upgrade first,I think it's a bad decision by Tiscali to do this.
