  • I used them for a remortgage and they was fine i paid what they quoted, but when i came to make a purchase the final fee was a lot higher than what they quoted and i could have gone local than online, but hey you learn by your mistakes.

I don't speak on behalf of any firm, nor do I tout for business by giving my name.

But do I take it that you think I am being unreasonable to hijack the point that a warehouse setup may be relevant to the quality of a service? Happy to be corrected - especially as you've taken the time to come on here (makes a change that some Firms could do with doing) but

    Price
    Qualifications
    Size of operation
    Hours of operation
    Communication - or lack of
    Referral fees

They are all in the mix for picking a good conveyancing firm.

People would not winge if they considered all the factors - but they don't and they post as they do on MSE. Depressing reading.

  • I was considering using this firm but thought I'd do a bit of rudimentry checking first...

Ok, a postcode is a pretty important thing to get right when buying a property right? Would you trust a firm that can't even get its own postcode right on its web site contact page? Would post get to them if you used that postcode? They quote SK10 2WH (a residental street) but the postcode for the address they quote is in fact SK10 2EW. Of course they may read this and fix it now :-) Nice picture of gleaming offices on the web site - take a look on Google street view - the reality is somewhat different - ok the state of an office is not everything but the fact that the whole building seems to be up for sale is a slight concern. Perhaps they're moving to better things.

It seems to me readinbg around that 5 years ago the service was pretty good. Today, with the depressed market, who knows? There seem to be a few bad reviews and few with a good word to say.

    I'd be concerned.

Come on .... we have had a Bank Holiday since you instructed them!

I'm not defending them ... they may be bad or good - I don't know.

But I do know that some firms need time after a Bank Holiday ..... you have given them effectively 4 days before reporting them? I think you are a clown in all honesty, what did they say when you rang them?

Hope your current solicitor is also advising you whether you should be complaining to the firm's regulatory authority - if you are incurring costs and losing buyers as a result of their incorrect actions when you bought, then there should be some compensation for that additional cost.
  • I really can not fault this company. They were nearly half the price of my last solicitor. Did a great job and no problems with getting through on the phone or getting called back. A big thank you to Zoe and Helen who really went out of their way to get me the completion date I wanted.

Hmm. New poster joins just to praise a company, dragging up a thread which is over 15 months old.

    Spam reported.
  • Thats a little bit harsh Yorkie. Yes I have only just joined and my first posting is to praise a company. I have to point out that this site is riddled with postings from people who have joined for the sole purpose of making a single posting criticising a company. However, there does not appear to be any accusations of spamming about those postings.

I will try to be a little more critical in my future postings. :-)
