Plumber

My relative called a 24 hour plumber because one of her radiators was leaking and she could not get British Gas to answer their phone - she has some insurance against leaking radiators with them. She is 89 and almost blind. The plumber charged her over £800 to replace one radiator.Taking into consideration she considered it an emergency to which he turned up 2 hours later, is this price correct?

    Hi

Im sorry but your relative has been completely and utterly ripped off and you should report this "plumber" to trading standards.

  • She got completely done over, there absolutely nothing she can do about it now, as she agreed with the offer

the worse thing is she has home insurance and BG insurance. When she told me this I could have cried! I said i doubt if your home insurance will cover the cost particularly if you have been scammed.

Why not just turn off the water from the stop-!!!!, and save £900?

    Fools and their money...

Why would you report it to the police? It isn't their concern.

Also trading standards can't do anything, unless he didn't even do the job - then you have grounds to get some money back.

She is almost blind and unfortunatley did not tell me until two days later. I think her neighbour called a plumber from Yellow Pages
