Have just recalled my time in China (DH worked in Shanghai 2007/8) and how skinny the Chinese were; indeed I never saw 1 obese or even slightly chunky Chinese person.
    .

I remember going on a tour in Hong Kong and the tour guide commented on this and mentioned green tea but also said that most people in Hong Kong (apart from the very rich) live in flats and there are no lifts. People are running up and down the stairs all day and people walk rather than drive where possible. It is also so hot that when I was there I barely ate anything and wasn't hungry due to the humidity and heat.

It's true that big city living tends to make people thinner, because hardly anyone has a car and you have to walk everywhere. Even look at using the Tube - all that walking to the station and inside it, changing lines etc - and if you walk up and down the escalators it all adds up quickly!!

Bitsy beans - you can just do the green tea bit hun.

Oh gawd I shall have to hold my nose then as I loathe the stuff :rotfl:

I wonder if MSE will be responsible for the massive jump in sales of green tea? shall I buy some shares now :rotfl:

Seriously I will give this a go although I am the worlds worst for not drinking enough liquid as it is.

There are plenty of fat people in HK by the way...and not just the British ;) They are being affected by western lifestyles and obesity is becoming a huge problem there...which is interesting because it helps to remove the myth that for the Chinese being skinny is genetic, its definitely diet/activity levels somehow!

Interesting vanity sizing should come up on this thread - I am skinny for me at the moment (marathon training) but I am now in size 6/8 clothes - there is no way on earth I am even a 'real' size 8 - it drives me mad in shops like m & s because I can no longer buy anything that fits. At least Asda go down to size 4 (probably a proper size 8)!!!

Oh and if you're finding it hard to sleep - take up marathon training - I've been practically holding my eyes open since seven thirty...off to bed now :)

I did thanks, 8.5 hours wayhey! I feel sooo much better today, I always do when I get enough sleep. :)

Me too! Not having a car and hating squished sweaty buses helps. It really makes a difference.

Well I have loads of sleep and I'm overweight. Other factors must come into play - the biggest example of which I can think of is that more active = better and more sleep and the activity part goes a long way towards the slimming part. That and the more hours spent kipping and not eating.
