LloydsTSB - Account opening questions

I'm considering opening a LloydsTSB Classic account with Vantage to take advantage of the 4% on credit balances and had a couple of questions.

1) Does anyone know what sort code is allocated if you open an account online?

2) Can Lloyds customers deal with any branch or are their some things you need to contact your "home branch" for?

3) Can anyone get their Branch Locator to work properly? I can't.. not a promising sign!

Regards
Sunil

Not when I followed your link - but it worked fine when I went to LTSB homepage in my normal way and clicked through Ways to Bank - Branches.

You get to choose the branchsortcode when you apply, it normally gives you the ones nearest your home address.

I think there is very little that *has* to been done at the home sorting code now, I often use branches in London and not my home town as they are nearest to my work place and I have never had any issues.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

No matter where your account is held at, you can use any branch in the UK.

Try this website for finding a branch: http://www.lloydstsb.com/branch_locator/search.asp
  • The only time you will have to deal with your 'home' branch is if they start something for you such as refund a charge but forget to do so.
Another branch will ask you to contact the originating branch in this instance - but you can transact at any branch and apply for any product at any branch.

If you compare the full URL of the link you gave you will discover it is not the same as the one which book12 gave. It's why the link you gave did not work for me when I tried it but I did find the branch locator worked fine when I went to the LTSB homepage and clicked through to the branch locator from there. Why don't you try it, as spelt out in book12's post.

I opened both a Lloyds TSB Classic with Vantage online yesterday aswell as a Bank of Scotland Reward Account. Going to operate the Lloyds TSB Vantage as a savings account and the Bank of Scotland for the fiver and have £1000 floating between both each month.

A quick question. Will they require ID to be brought into a local branch ?
I didn't get an account no with Lloyds but got a message saying that my application and been accepted. On the Bank of Scotland one I got a sort code, acc no and for some reason a roll no.

    Any help much appreciated

If you are on the voters roll, they will do a check on that. Therefore, you shouldn't need to provide ID in branch.

IF they need one, there will be a letter telling you about it in a few days time.
