Fox entering garden and sending my dog scatty

The Foxes around me have become very bold. The only time I got a fright was when one spotted me and my dog and starting crossing the road towards us!
Just before Christmas I was getting into my car on a busy road when I saw a fox walking on the Pavement. As a Man came close I thought it would run. Instead it walked right past him then waited to cross the road.
There are now so many foxes around here I frequently see between 1 and 3 each day- sometimes all at the same time.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
I have seen a fox for the first time ever on my road this week (I have seen foxes before, but never here!) - obviously struggling for food to risk coing out into the more populated areas - I chucked her a handful of dog kibble under the railings, where she was coming through - not always a good idea to feed them in the long term, as they can start hanging round in areas where there is more risk to them, cars, etc and not everyone is pleased to see them...
However, I felt sorry for her struggling in this weather, so as a one off I decided to go with it... I dont know what you can do, other than ensure all food is removed from the ground, and wait for the thaw - when there is less snow I am sure they will not be so keen to scavenge in gardens.0 -
Oh... I do feed foxes when I see them....we put our rubbish bags out on Sun night for Mon morning colection and always see foxes here.
In this weather ... I throw them something out of my window for them.
And I too think they are cute fury things...
In my previous hous I had one visiting the garden every evening, used to live milk and meat for him, for some reason it was always a fox and a hedgehog (however you spell this.. the one with spikes LOL0 coming together at the same time.. for supper0 -

I love having the foxes come to our garden, we have had 2 coming this week. We are very lucky as we get lots of squirrels too (most seen is 4) & we used to get badgers but they have moved on (funniest thing was watching a badger having a drink from the pond, he stretched too far & toppled in, climbed out & shook himself off!) We also get lots of birds & at the right time of the year a woodpecker comes to a couple of the dead trees in the copse behind us.
Our Harrier (a bit like a lanky Beagle) loves watching the wildlife, although he does bark if he can hear things but not see them.
Hopefully either the fox will move on from your property or your dog will get used to it. I remember when we first got our rabbits Chester would go mad at them every time he went in the garden. That lasted about 2 weeks & now they often sit nose to nose!0 -

How big is your dog? I wouldn't assume it was safe. Some Foxes have apparently taken a liking to cats:-

A yorkie seems like an easier meal to me than a cat with razor sharp claws and lightning fast reactions.0 -
Could be after the squirrels - but I think they live fairly locally in the woods behind us as we see them up & down behind our back fence so much. Last year the cubs were the other side of the fence (it is an open one with a slat, then a gap, slat, gap so we can see into the copse) really close to me, with Mum stood watching & they looked quite small still. We have gaps under the fence for the animals to come in (when the new fence went up we did this so the badgers could contine visiting as they just dug under the old one!) The foxes will often come in just for a drink from the pond!0

Really? Living in zone 2 london we had loads of foxes wandering around. Fearless too, they'd wander up and down residential streets and wouldn't deviate from their path if a person comes near them. They were big and in great condition and would be out as soon as it got a bit dusky - even when lots of people were still out and about.
There was a "family" living under the bushes in the gardens of our block of flats. They made such a racket in mating season! like a cat being tortured at 3am. nice. But you forgot about it a few months later when if you were lucky you could watch the new babies chasing each other about in the middle of the night. very cute.0
