hello
we have started the process of transferring from aol to sky, called sky with the transfer code from aol, and apparently sky are sending a new router through and will be transfering on 18th january.
i will be on holiday during that time, so my dad is sorting it out, he is not very good with technology etc so it is usually left to me to do it, will he need to do much/anything during the change over do i need to give him our existing network name/wep key etc or does sky do it all on the day for us.

will he be setting wireless up or just direct with ethernet..
Switchover should be no trouble at all. on the day just remove AL's router
Plug in the sky router if he needs to set up Wireless theres a card that comes in the router box with the relevant information needed
but if they have changed since I went with them then just enter router settings (Type. 192.168.0.1 in any web browser and its usually username: Sky Password: Admin) and the settings are in there.. hope that helps, its been a while since I set my sky up (2 years) but it was pretty simple0 -

It's really easy. You will get a disc with the Router which you need to run when you have set up the router and that will put the wireless on your computer. The codes you need to enter will be on a card also supplied with router and disc.
Don't try and do it before the actual date that it will have changed though. Sky will send you a letter when this will happenMFW 2026 #5007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

The Sky router is plug and go -there should be no reason for a 'disc'. Just plug it in like any other router.
Leave a photogrpahic guide for your Dad if you think it'll help but all he'll be doing is plugging the router into the mains and whichever cable (ethernet) you are using continue to use that. If you're not using an ethernet cable then set it up for that before you go and sort the wireless out later when you return.
He has no need to go around the back of the PC at all.0 -
