Halifax - lost transaction

The halifax adverts have finally got to me and I opened up a reward current account yesterday afternoon. I was provided with an account number straight away and had online access to the account so I did a faster payment over to the account from Natwest.
The payment was recieved and I could see it through Halifax online banking but I couldnt transfer it back again, fair enough its a new account. I logged in this morning and the transaction has disappeared along with my funds, halifax couldnt help over the phone but im wondering if anyone has experienced the same with a new account and it will reappear? I think its unlikely that its a rejected faster payment as the funds certainly arent with Natwest and they would have never credited the Halifax account.

It's a quirk.
The funds will show again on Tuesday.
Don't panic!0 -
No, this often happens when you pay the first money into your account.
Don't worry though, it will reappear first thing tomorrow morning!
In the future this problem won't happen again.0 -
I thought that would probably be the case, thanks for the reassurance.0

It hasnt come back
Neither side are interested.0 -
Okay, as you say it actually appeared on your Halifax online banking account screen then I think the onus is on them to resolve it, which they should be able to do fairly swiftly.
I would ring their telephone banking line and, if you feel that you are being fobbed off, ask to speak to a supervisor.
It should be something relatively straight forward. When I worked for them it was usually something to do with a transaction going in to a clearing account which was actioned the next working day so the funds reappeared two working days later.
It may be as simple as a backlog caused by a member of staff being snowbound for a day or two.
But they should be looking to offer you reassurance that they have your money and are sorting it out (or, for whatever reason, they have sent things back to where they came from - but this is unlikely).
Again, don't worry. I think things will resolve themselves sooner rather than later.0 -
This happened to me last week. I transferred £100 from A&L to activate the Halifax Reward account as requested in the letter from Halifax. I checked online and the payment showed on the new Halifax account. When I went into the branch, their system said they hadn't received it. I found out by chance that to open a Halifax Reward account, the £100 has to be either in cash, or transferred from another Halifax account. It won't accept transfers from other banks.
The branch withdrew my £100, and resubmitted it and that cleared it. Looks like you will have to go through the same process.
What was worrying for me, was that branch staff don't even know about this quirk in their system, and at no point in the letter did it say they would only accept the initial payment in this way. Early days with Halifax, but I'm less than impressed.0 -

They misinformed you.
The initial payment can be from any source internal or external.
It has happened to most people that have opened the Reward Account since it was introduced in February. The money usually reappears after a day or two.0 -

Don't worry.. the same thing happened with me -
I opened the accounts on Saturday, had a fast payment from HSBC
All fine. Next day the balance disappeared along with any record of the transaction
Checked in the branch - As usual they didn't have a clue. They said that it must have been rejected so should be back in HSBC account in 3 days.
Today £1000 has been credited to my halifax reward acount

Sorry to disagree. Their Ts & Cs clearly state that the initial amount to open the account and activate it CANNOT be from an external source. Unfortunately for me the letter I received didn't state this. It was hidden in their 'Welcome Booklet' which I didn't see until I was in their branch.
As for my own £100, apparently it would have just disappeared until the system recognised the authenticity.0 -

Have they changed then?
I certainly have not seen that in the T+Cs. I will recheck.
Meanwhile perhaps you could direct me to the relevant condition.
I certainly funded one of mine initially with a FP from my Tesco savings account.
As you can see the poster above funded hers initially by FP from a HSBC account.0
