Another brill thread.
This week I need to limit grocery spends to £52 to stay on track with my monthly budget, which sounds easy but I have my 4 teenage step children this weekend and boy! can they eat. Misc spends £3. So my answer is £55.
This is such a good idea, knowing that I have to 'report back' is a great motivator. Thank you pointypenguinDebt £26k 18/10/140 -
HI Pointy Penguin,
Great thread - tried to do this from afar last week and although I overspent, it made me really aware of every penny I was spending. Which can only be a good thing
Please can you put me down for £20 this week? Would love to join.

Morning all,
Happy Birthday for yesterday Natsing and well done everyone who got a green last week. Wigwam, don't let a red get you down, we've all been there (and probably will again at some point, lol).
Can you mark me down for green at £10.20 last week please Pointy? I'm in for £10 this week.
Bad news on being debt free for me. My evil car (we don't get on) decided that 3 repairs in as many months just wasn't enough and went kaput on Saturday. What ever it is sounds bloomin' expensive and my savings pot for maintainence has just about run dry.
So bye bye evil car, hello nice new reliable car. (And hello a bucket load of debt again, lol). Fortunately, due to this site and the supportive people in the forums, I have no other debt and therefore I can actually afford to do this! Yay!
Anyway, thanks people! xxx

Hello to all the new joiners. I have started the week badly and already spent £3.51 on 2 pairs of socks this morning (they looked warm and I was cold but no I didn't really need them)
Katie - sorry to hear about having the big outlay for a new car, but at least it should be reliable and probably better to be driving around in with this awful weather.
I have a similar huge expense coming up in that I need a new boiler, trying to put it off as long as I can but I now need to decide whether to spend money on a repair for my exisiting one and hope it will last another year maybe or bite the bullet for a new one.

Well bang goes the new car idea....a bit like the old car, lol.
I got a call today from the garage advising me that my car misses out on qualifying for the scrappage scheme by about six week!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Have spent the afternoon having a little pity party about the fact I can no longer buy the car I'm in love with.
So, in a fit of childish temper tantrum I have declared if I can't have the one I want I shall remain car-less!
Tixy, sorry to hear about the boiler. I'd bite the bullet if I were you, repairs cost so much and just create a viscious circle that you can't afford to break out of.

pink_numbers getting the cards out of your purse sounds like a good idea. I think I might do the same as I need to keep on the straight and narrow as I spent a fair amount on Saturday being away.

kate_pixie sorry to hear about the car, same thing happened to me last july and sometimes I really miss having a car but it is much cheaper having a bus pass.
