My trusted Medion lappy died today and I am looking to replace it. My budget is £600 or less. minimun screen size 15 inch but must have as good as possible graphics card as I want to be able to play games like Dragon Age Origins and Left for Dead 2. I don't expect to play them at a high resoultion or settings.
From a previous thread I found the X65 which looks ok I think the Nvidia GT130 should play these.
Can anyone beat this in terms of gaming performance I would be happy with a smaller screen for less money or same money with better performance.
I am erring towards refurbished laptops if I can find something that fits the spec.

A hardware fault with the graphics cards I think .0

So, buy a new graphics card. £600 should get you a reasonably good one.

You generally cannot replace the graphics card in a laptop because they are integrated into the motherboard.
Is it an nvidia graphics chip by any chance?0 -
I didn't know you could buy new graphics cards for laptops. do you have any links to buying them and install instructions?0

It was yes. Medion 2260 Centrino Duo with an Nvidia 8600M GS.0

I got this for my sister this week:

All round a good budget laptop (had a £400 budget). The ATI graphics chip was main attraction over others which were all intel shared graphics in this price range.0 -
That does look a great offer but I think the graphics card would struggle for.0

Here is what I believe to be the best sub-£600 fully-featured laptop currently available.
Infact, I don't think such a capable machine has been so cheap in a long while!

£519.97Cpu is nothing special, but sufficient. (T6600)
Ram is nice & fast DDR3. (4GB)
Gpu is a high class-2; so will be capable of playing all modern games when detail is reduced. (GT 240M)
Nice big screen & high res - though not quite Full-HD. (17.3", 1600x900)
All other useful accessories are there, Bluray, HDMI, Wireless-N, bluetooth, Gigabit ethernet, 1MP webcam, etc.
Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7 for whatever Acer's delivery charge is....
* "FREEDEL" for free standard delivery still works until 23:59 this-evening.
* Go through Quidco for 2% (£10.40) cashback.
So a grand total of £509.57 delivered.
The sister site (acerdirect) has just increased the price by £5, so I'd wager that the price at laptopsdirect will be going up by the same amount within the next 24 hours.
So I suggest acting quickly!
All this info. is duplicated @ the deal i've posted on hukd, here.0 -
