Cambelt change? Had a Bravo 1.6 and the cambelt snapped at 45000, it was due a change at about 60k or 5years , if I remember correctly. Car was just over 4years old, cost at a specialist was £1100 to fix.

Are you sure the 1.2 won't be underpowered?

The Fiat 1.2 engine is a peach! I'm sure its same engine that they use in the Punto Sporting so its very nippy. On eof the quickest 1.2 engines I know of. I drive a Brava 1.4 and thats rubbish. The 1.2 engine is so much better

  • my brother in law had a bravo. not too dissimilar in age to the one you mentioned. so far hes had to replace the exhaust, handbrake cable and cambelt in the space of 2 years. its got to be one of the worst cars ive ever driven. the power steering is crap. the brakes wouldnt stop it from 60mph on a heathrow runway and the motors in the window mechanism always struggle

Can I quote a leading consumer magazine / organization:
"Fiat has surpassed itself by making a car this poor. It has the dubious honour of being the least liked car in our survey for the second year running. Dont buy one."
The survey is of all cars. The key question was "would you recommend this car to a friend". 22% said yes, as opposed to say the Honda Jazz which had a 89% recommendation to a friend rate.
    Nice to save.

Check http://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik Car By Car Breakdown for all good AND bad on every model.

& I bought a Brava SX 72000 miles 1.6 Y plate for a customer a year back, shade over £1200 pretty straight, reasonably well looked after & it's been fine.

I still think Bravo in Broom Yellow look smart, too!!
