If your advertising collection your opening yourself up to that anyway.0 -
i use interparcel and there ups service allows you to choose a one hour slot, i do this when im sending a large or heavy item and if i buyer emails me asking if they can arrange their own courier, i usually ask who they are going to use and let them know what days it can be collected from me. One the item is collected i always ask the courier for a copy of the tracking details and they have always given me it.
Ive only ever refused one item and that was for a set of four alloys and tyres simply because i couldnt get them to my place of work for them to be collected.0 -
I wouldnt be happy with a courier after a bad experience. Sold a large item of furniture - collection only. Buyer said that she would collect. Then her family member (who changed mid story) went to hospital - would I use her incredibly flexible courier... I said yes. Courier not flexible - 1 hour time slot only - but I had to collect children from school. They said same time next week
er no!
Cancelled courier - contacted buyer who came in person - she had other pickups afterwards... Oh it took weeks - and the new furniture arrived 30 minutes afterwards. Small house & no storage space!!!
In future - Im saying no to couriers!
As soolin points out - no tracking, and I too have a life!0 -
To the OP, it may be worth sending everything recorded for a while just incase this moron does get others to bid on your items. At least then you have some sort of come back if they open a Paypal claim. As others have said, forward copies of all correspondence to E-bay & also keep some copies for yourself just incase you need to use it at a later date.
Apart from that, I would sit back & feel grateful that you managed to cancel the bids before the auction ended. Imagine if you hadn't & what problems you would be having now!0 -
I sold a large item as collection only, the winning bidder lived at the opposite end of the country and asked if she could arrange a courier at her expense,i said yes and it all went smoothly0

Thanks for the comments everyone!
I'm not suggesting that courier stuff always goes wrong, but I do think there is more scope for stuff to go wrong compared with personal collection. As Soolin said, the flexibility and lack of effort involved in personal collection is its major benefit!
However annoyed you may be that you didn't win an item, it seems a bit over the top to send abusive emails.
Think I'll be using my partner's account for selling for a while!0
